6:15–21 The second miracle of this chapter also alludes to the Exodus story. When Jesus appears walking on water, John’s language suggests that the disciples experience a theophany: they see Jesus as God. Unlike the parallel accounts in Mark 6:47–52 and Matthew 14:22–27, the disciples do not mistake Jesus for a ghost.
